How concentration mathematics works

Concentration expresses an amount per unit of volume. Dividing a labeled amount in milligrams by a stated volume in milliliters produces a theoretical concentration in mg/mL. Dividing a hypothetical target amount by that concentration produces a mathematical volume.

That arithmetic says nothing about identity, purity, sterility, potency, stability, compatibility or clinical appropriateness. Those are laboratory, manufacturing and medical questions. A U-100 syringe scale represents 100 marked units per milliliter; those markings are volume, not milligrams and not a retatrutide dose.

Worked arithmetic example

For an abstract classroom example, 12 mg divided by 2 mL equals a theoretical concentration of 6 mg/mL. A hypothetical 2 mg amount divided by 6 mg/mL equals 0.33 mL. This example demonstrates units analysis only and must not be interpreted as preparation or injection guidance.
